You have asked for our impressions of our time in the Mekong. The simple reply is that it was wonderful.
Our journey started when we headed away from Phnom Penh on a (Bluecruiser) fast ferry on the 23 May – destination Chau Doc. This first night in the delta was spent in the Hai Chau hotel, and early on the 24 May a taxi (arranged by the Hotel) took us to meet our guide and crew, and to board the ferry. We were well received at the ferry terminal, and were soon underway.
Thereafter, the wonderful sampan, the guide, the attentive crew, and the fine food all provided an excellent means for us to enjoy what we thought of as a quite adventurous trip. A trip which allowed us to view and understand much about the lives and industries of the wonderful and friendly people who inhabit the Mekong Delta.
We are thankful for your advice concerning the hire car. This comfortable vehicle and its driver awaited us at Cai Be at the conclusion of the sampan itinerary, and we used it to travel first to Tra Ving (night 26 May), then Can Tho (night 27 May), before the driver returned us to Chau Doc (for another night in the Hai Chau Hotel) on 28 May. When we farewelled the driver in Chau Doc we did our best to thank him for his pleasant company, his thoughtfulness, and his safe driving of us through the Mekong countryside.
When we left the Mekong delta on 29 May – it was on another (Bluecruiser) fast ferry, that returned us to Phnom Penh. We had spent a total of 6 nights in the Mekong Delta. We are very glad that we did.
May we finish by saying that your assistance and fine service, plus the excellent computer system your company has for bookings and related matters, all add to the overall good feelings we have about our experiences in the Mekong Delta. We will certainly recommend the Mekong Delta as a travel destination to others, and would suggest that travelers to Vietnam utilize the services of your company. Likewise, should we return to your part of the world, we will not hesitate to seek your assistance.
The crew or the guide. I was particularly impressed with the friendliness and professionalism of our guide. The whole package was everthing I had hoped it would be and I have no suggestions as to how it could be improved. I will recommend it to anyone I know who expresses any interest in traveling to Vietnam. Thank you for all your help.
